For the past few months I’ve been hearing some things that I believe to be from God in my personal prayer journal … but I’ve pretty much kept them to myself. I suppose you might call them “warning notes” from the Father, but they would definitely (for some) be called controversial notes from the Father. I’ve been dragging my feet for weeks, but I strongly feel that God wants me to put together these warnings into one post. It is my hope that these notes will have the same effect upon you that they’ve had upon me … to fervently pray for repentance in the Body of Christ.

When the church does things according to the principles of the kingdom of the world it is never operating in the kingdom of God. Never. The time has come for pastors to repent of modeling their church after successful businesses and from attempting to change their nation through political means. I want to show church leaders that so much of the church, no matter how popular, has become a church of the kingdom of the world. Pray for leaders in my church, that they will have the courage to admit that they have made a mistake and that, in humility, there will be great repentance in the Body of Christ.

Things will not just return to normal in the United States, for I will judge decisions that put money and business over the lives of people. Pray for my church and pray that Christians will not be seduced again by the false spirit of conservatism. To love your neighbor as you would love yourself is to share what you have and to be more concerned with the health of others than the health of a nation’s economy.

My kingdom is not a “right” that can be passed down from a past generation, it is only given to those who are willing to produce its fruit. The fruit of my kingdom is a childlike spirit, the fruit of my kingdom is a willingness to love others as you want to be loved, the fruit of my kingdom is generosity and the heart of a servant. Much of the church in America has turned away from desiring this kind of fruit, and has chosen the fruit of politics, selfishness, and the love of money. The kingdom of God will be taken away from them and given to a people who will produce its fruit.

When you see evidence that people you know and love are being deceived by an ultra-conservative spirit, don’t just roll your eyes but pray for them. What they are embracing is a deadly poison that will destroy their witness of the kingdom and eventually cause all love to grow cold. It is this same spirit that deceived well-meaning Christians into thinking that persecution and war and killing were somehow the work of God. The place that Americans are at now is very similar to the place that Germans were right before the rise of Adolf Hitler. You can’t push against this, but you can pray against it!

This time of reckoning and judgment over my church is not finished in the United States. There will be deep divisions and even the danger of a type of Civil War with Christians on the wrong side of that war. I tell you this not just so you can prepare yourself, but that you will pray for church leaders and conservative believers: that their eyes will be opened and that they will undergo a deep repentance from following the idol of politics. My church no longer stands at the crossroads … it has taken the wrong road … but it is always possible in my mercy to turn around and come back to that crossroads.
