“Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good … All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines.” (1 Corinthians 12:7, 11)
I always pour out my Spirit for the common good, so if my people are selfish and uninterested in the good of others, I will cease to pour it out. Saying “Come Holy Spirit” is not enough if you are not more concerned with others than you are with yourself. My Holy Spirit was always meant for the streets, not just the churches; for the unbeliever, not just the blessed; for the deceived and confused, not just those who know the truth. When you only expect my Spirit in the church, you limit most of what I have sent my Spirit to accomplish. My Spirit must determine how and to whom my gifts are to be used. A person willing to submit to those purposes will discover the true Spirit-filled life.
