Peacemakers…

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. (Matthew 5:9)

To be called (and seen as) children of God, you must be someone who in your lifestyle is a maker of peace. Strife and division must never be part of the character of my children, so when you neglect your duty to make peace you are neglecting your role as a child of God. A peacemaker is more than an arbitrator between opposing sides, he is also someone who actively and intentionally creates peace all around him. Peace is not always something that happens spontaneously, it must be created by someone who is willing to actively demonstrate a kingdom lifestyle. You are making peace when you respond in an opposite spirit. You are making peace when you refrain from criticism or gossip. You are making peace when you turn the other cheek and go the extra mile. You are making peace when you serve others as though they were more important than you. I want my children to be known not just as evangelicals or progressives, but as peacemakers: this is the witness that the world must see.
