They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them. In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee (Luke 24:2-6)
This is the question that I would ask my church: Why do you look for the living among the dead? I will not be found in the political systems of the world; trying to bring your nation to me through such means is just as useless as looking for a living person in a tomb. I am calling my people to stop wasting time in dead places and to once again proclaim a kingdom that looks like the cross and that is defined in Jesus. My people, why are you spending precious time presenting (or attacking) conspiracy theories and unfounded accusations? It doesn’t matter whether these things are true or false because they have nothing to do with the kingdom that I have commanded you to proclaim. Jesus has risen, and you must seek him where he is. You must lift up your eyes away from social media. You must lift up your eyes from the dead places in which you have put your hope. You must lift up your eyes and look once more at Jesus, not just what you believe about him. Lift up your eyes and let me clear your mind from confusion and distraction for there are many who need to see a living Savior, not a lifeless tomb.
