“Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamps burning, like servants waiting for their master to return from a wedding banquet, so that when he comes and knocks, they can immediately open the door for him.” (Luke 12:35-36)
All that I really require of you is that you be dressed and ready for service, with your lamp burning and your ears open to my voice. To be dressed means that you are always ready to go at even a moment’s notice; not tied down by possessions or cares of this world but ready to go when I say go. To be ready for service means that you are in a place of humility where you are prepared to serve others, not be served. To keep your lamp burning is to, every day, intentionally provide the “oxygen” that the flame of my Holy Spirit needs in your life. Some people remain dressed and ready for service their entire lives, and those lives have great value in my kingdom. Others hear the knock and open the door, but they are no more special than those who remained ready. Rejoice that I really don’t require some great deed from you my child, only that you remain ready to do whatever deed I give you to perform.
Remember that it’s important not to place your hope in who is elected president, for when your hope is in me alone you can flourish under any kingdom of the world system. There is a powerful spiritual force pressing down upon the United States right now that seeks division and strife. Resist that force by responding in the opposite spirit, remembering that good comes not in a power-over way, but when power-under authority is exercised in self-sacrificial love. Keep interceding and pray that the voice of peacemakers will be heard in the land.
